The Women's Interests Committee (WIC) was formed to promote recognition of athletic achievement by women and girls in paddlesport. Since it's based with the USCA the WIC is, of course, mainly focused on marathon paddling, with a specific directive for encouraging and promoting equity awards for women and girls in money-awarded marathon races.
This directive is demonstrated through WIC support of individuals, coaches, race organizers and programs that develop female paddling excellence. The directive also expresses itself in basic promotion of healthy athletic behavior among women. The goal in this fitness orientation (whether through a healthy environment, developing fun-filled fitness awareness, or recovery from and/or prevention of progressive disability or illness) is that such activities eventually result in athletic excellence, either through unforeseen personal bests, or through a clear understanding that the waterways in which we compete are absolutely necessary to our endeavors.

The Paddle Like a Girl! project raises funds for financial support of individuals and programs that demonstrate need or excellence by realizing or demonstrating effort towards WIC-compatible goals. The project sells t-shirts and stationary. See our order form for more information.
Recognition of support-worthy individuals and organizations is done by suggesting a candidate to Janet Perry, the WIC Chair, at janetperry55@comcast.net . If your candidate is not a serious canoe or kayak competitor, do not apply.
