AN EXPLANATION OF AGE CATEGORIES, SPECIAL AGE GROUP RECOGNITION AND USCA TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS
  • 1.     Age Categories for classes as listed below.
  • ·       “Youth” in Adult/Youth Marathon event is a paddler who has passed his/her 5th birthday but has not  
reached his/her 15th birthday as of January 1 current year.
  • ·       “Adult” in Adult/Youth Marathon event is a paddler who is 29 years of age or older as of race day.
  • ·       Junior is a paddler who was 15, 16 or 17 years of age on January 1 of the current year.
  • ·       Juvenile is a paddler who was 13 or 14 years of age on January 1 of the current year.
  • ·       Bantam is a paddler who was 11 or 12 years of age on January 1 of the current year.
  • ·       Fledgling II is a paddler who was 8, 9 or 10 years of age on January 1 of the current year.
  • ·       Fledgling I is a paddler who was 5, 6 or 7 years of age on January 1 of the current year.
  • ·       Master– Man or Woman at least 40 years of age as of race day.
  • ·       Senior– Man or Woman at least 50 years of age as of race day.
  • ·       Veteran– Man or Woman at least 60 years of age as of race day.
  • ·       Grand Veteran– Man or Woman at least 70 years of age as of race day.
For the Adult/Junior event in the Marathon and Sprint Championships the following ages are used.
  • ·       Adult 29 and over as of race day/Junior (15-17) as of 1/1/01 and at least 14 years younger than the adult.
For the National Adult Sprint Championships.
  • ·       Adult 29 and over as of race day/Fledgling I (5-7) as of January 1 of the current year.
  • ·       Adult 29 and over as of race day/Fledgling II (8-10) as of January 1 of the current year.
  • ·       Adult 29 and over as of race day/Bantam (11-12) as of January 1 of the current year.
  • ·       Adult 29 and over as of race day/Juvenile (13-14) as of January 1 of the current year.
  • 2.     Recognition awards for“Special Age Groups” within the following championship events.
  • a.     Marathon
  •       C-2 Adult/Junior Cruiser – 1st three JrW and partner.
  •       C-2 Adult/Youth – 1st 3 positions in the following age groups and partner.
  •                               Fledgling I (5-7), Fledgling II (8-10), Bantam (11-12), Juvenile (13-14).
  •       All adult ages are as of race day.
  •       C-2 Men – 1st team 18-24
  •       C-1 Man – 1st man 18-24
  •       C-1 Woman Cruiser – 1st woman 18-24
  •       C-1 Woman Master Cruiser – 1st woman 50-59, 60+
  •       C-2 Woman Cruiser – 1st team 18-24
  •       C-2 Woman Master – 1st team 50-59, 60+
  •       C-2 Mixed Cruiser – 1st team 18-24
  •       C-2 Mixed Master Cruiser – 1st team 50-59, 60+
  •       C-2 Men Veteran Cruiser – 1st team 70+
  • b.    Sprints
