A Message from John Edwards

USCA's new Executive Director John Edwards

I'm both excited and daunted by the prospect of directing the USCA. I see great opportunities to grow the organization, to embrace more paddle sports events within our national scope, and to make the USCA a formidable force in marathon paddling for all types of craft.

I feel that being a serious competitor myself I have the unique insight that only a competitor can bring to the table. Sometimes that passion may be a hindrance to me as I try to follow through with some ideas but overall I believe that it is something worth having in an Executive Director.

It will take very large feet to fill those vacated by Jim Mack and we all know that it is next to impossible even to try. Just trying to understand the full scope of his past activities is a challenge in itself.

The USCA has an able Executive Board. I look forward to continuing to work with them and to enjoy their support and advice in key areas. The transition will take a while but we are already starting to explore the more important items one at a time. I will be using the coming weeks to work out the kinks in the ideas I have, and plan to outline my vision in greater detail in due course.

So, hang on to your seats. We're setting off on a serious workout.
